That's Entertainment!

entertainment

Choosing the right entertainment can make or break your event.  Not only does providing entertainment help to break the ice, get your guests mingling, it leaves them with a lasting impression. Entertainment can be anything from a band or DJ, to an artist recording the event on canvas as it happens, to a strolling magician entertaining guests with his tricks.  Here are some factors to consider when choosing what entertainment is right for your event.

Setup requirements
The formality, facility, and size of your event will determine the type of music or entertainment that is appropriate. Be very specific about getting the space and setup requirements for your entertainers so that you can accurately relay the information to your event coordinator and facility. Additionally, ask about a "Green Room". Sometimes entertainers require a dressing room, a place to rest and/or wait for their performance.

Theme
Make sure your entertainment compliments and further promotes your events theme.

Contracts, Fees & Insurance
Any time you book any form of entertainment, be sure to get a contract that covers exactly what you are expecting the entertainers to do. Be clear about the times you want them to perform and how you want them to interact with your guests.  Check that they have liability insurance. Check into any additional fees that may be incurred such as set-up or travel times.

Entertainment styles
There are three entertainment styles to choose from for corporate events: staged shows, icebreaker and ambient entertainment. Staged shows work well when a central location or space where guests can gather and watch. Circus-style acts, dance performances, and musicians work well here.  Icebreaker entertainment requires smaller space requirements and offers the most direct contact with guests.  Magicians, strolling champagne dresses and roving buffet tables are examples.  Ambient entertainment offers high visual impact and required a moderate amount of space.  Think laser shows, aerialist, and live painters.
