SEAFAIR - Celebrate it on the water! 

Party party party! Today kicks off the start of Seafair Fleet Week, and we think a great way to enjoy the festivities is by joining Argosy Cruises or Waterways Cruises and Events for one of their themed tours! Argosy is offering three events this Saturday and Sunday. The Blue Angels Viewing Cruise departs from South Lake Union and Carillon Point at 12 pm and for an evening cruise hop on the Ships and Salsa dinner cruise at 7pm from Pier 56! Waterways Cruises is having a Blue Angels BBQ Lunch Cruise starting at 11:30 and departing Saturday from Waterways Homeport in Seattle and Sunday from Southport pier in Renton. Big Shout Out! Joplin Tornado Relief Fundraiser!

Mike Chase of Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes and Peter Birk of Ray's Boathouse held a fundraiser for the disaster relief efforts for the victims of the tragic tornado that swept through Joplin, MO. Mike and Peter both are from Joplin and have family and friends who were directly affected by the tornado. Along with many other local vendors and supporters, we are happy to see they have raised over $22,000 for the Joplin Humane Society and the American Red Cross! Ray's Boathouse to raise money for this worthy cause
that has hit our own very close to home.

are two chefs from Joplin, Missouri.
 
They have many friends and family living in Joplin who have been
devastated by the recent deadly tornado.  Thankfully, they are all safe.
However, Mike's sister Heidi and Peter's sister Ann both lost their homes.
 Now with the rest of Joplin, they face
the enormous task of cleaning up and rebuilding their lives.
 
Join us for a great evening of Joplin-inspired food,
wine, beer and fundraising.
 
All proceeds will go directly to the
American Red Cross and the Joplin Humane Society.

Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend In Seattle?

Memorial Day is a day to honor those who have served our country. But it's also the unofficial start of Summer.  Here are a few things you could do if you are staying in the Seattle area.

This year several museums across the state are giving FREE admission to military personel and their families now through Labor Day. Museums around Seattle include: Henry Art Gallery, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Kids Quest Childrens Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museum

This Saturday marks the 40th annual Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center! Starting at 11am and going till 9pm enjoy food vendors, crafts marketplace, live music, and sidewalk artists. The festival is free, but suggests a $10 donation.

The Museum of Flight is holding Memorial Day Programs on Memorial Day.

MOHAI is also having a Memorial Day celebration that offers Free admission to veterans and military personel.

Garden of Rememberance Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the westside of Benaroya Hall to honor the lives that have been lost in this past year.

The Tahoma National Cemetery Memorial Day service is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 30.

American Legion posts are planning ceremonies–check with your local post.

Seattle Cheese Festival!

This Saturday and Sunday head down to Pike Place Market for the city's 7th annual Cheese Festival! The festival will be sampling over 250 cheeses and wines this year, and will also be having a grilled cheese contest! For more info and details check out the Seattle Cheese Festival's website!

King County's Earth Day Expo!

Tomorrow head downtown to Westlake Plaza to celebrate King County's 8th annual Earth Day Expo! Admission is free and there will be activities going on from 10am to 2pm. Learn ways to recycle, reduce your carbon footprint and much more! The Green Globes awards will be presented to those working hard to protect the environment, manage natural resources and foster community involvement. Check out King County's website to join volunteer projects around the city!
