Additional Attraction Information

dream • discover • soar

Recently named a Smithsonian Affiliate, The Museum of Flight features one of the premier collections of aviation history in the world. Here, visitors have the opportunity to explore the interior of the original Air Force One that presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson flew aboard; take a tour of the West Coast’s only supersonic Concorde jet; and stand under the wings of a “Blackbird” spy-plane to examine the structure that once flew at speeds three times the speed of sound. If history is of more interest, visitors can enjoy a trip back in time through the J. Elroy McCaw Personal Courage Wing. This exhibit gallery showcases over 28 meticulously restored World War I and II aircraft and features personal artifacts that detail the courageous stories of those who participated in these great wars.

In addition, visitors can experience flight hands-on via multimedia displays, including simulators. The Museum features the world’s first full-scale, interactive air traffic control tower exhibit. Here, as they look out onto Boeing’s busy runway, visitors can learn how planes are tracked throughout the sky. Flight- and space-themed movies play throughout the day at the Museum’s William M. Allen Theater. And in our newest exhibit, Space: Exploring the New Frontier, visitors can try their hands at landing the Space Shuttle at Cape Canaveral or navigating a lunar module on the moon.

Discover and soar with us. Bring your dreams of flight to the Museum, and we’ll make them a reality.
